To Introduce Myself

       Many of my readers already know who I am, and those who do not may not be interested, so I will not go into great detail about what my life has been like up to this point. Besides, if I shared everything about myself at the very first, who would care to return in the future and read on? And what stories would be left to tell later, whether here or in person, over a delicious piece of pie and a cup of coffee?

       Years pass and seasons change, so they say, and I can testify to the truth of that. My school days are past, college is finished, and everything has slowed down to the monotony of an everyday life that may not drastically change for quite some time.

       Some days it seems as though nothing will ever be different than it is now, and that is a daunting thought. I sometimes feel that I will never have anything else to move on to, and no one else to meet. But then I remember how many things have changed throughout my life so far, and realize that God has so much left to do in my life before He is done with me. 

       So, what am supposed to do where I am right now? The answer to this question can be found in several of my favorite verses.     

       Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” [NKJV] 

       I must trust that the Lord has me where He wants me right now, and that as I continue to seek His will He will faithfully direct me in His perfect timing. 

       Romans 8:28-29 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” [NKJV] 

       When I remember that God is using every detail and each circumstance in my life to ultimately bring about His purpose, it humbles me and makes the mundane things seem more bearable. In light of God's promise of a perfect plan that He will bring about, what right have I to complain about where I am or to wish that I was doing something that the world would consider great? 

       And finally, the verses which helped me through the responsibilities of senior year at college, and which inspired the name and theme of this blog:

       I Corinthians 4:1-2 “Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.” [NKJV]. 

      As a believer in Jesus Christ, I am His servant, and a steward (or overseer) of the mysteries of God. I must be intentional about serving Christ where I am, even in the smallest things. I must be a good steward of His Word, always learning more through studying it, and being on the alert to defend or uphold the truth of Scripture. Not only that, but I must seek to understand how best to use the Word of God in teaching, admonishing and encouraging others. 

       I desire to be a faithful steward of everything that God has given me. The Lord is ever teaching me the importance of being faithful to His Word and of serving Him in the small things and in the big things. My hope and prayer is that those who read this blog may also be encouraged to serve Him as a faithful steward.
